Career Sites
The volunteer Career Sites take place in various businesses within the Hilliard community. This career exploration program provides:
~Hands-on career exploration
~Career mentoring
~On-site job coaching
~Resource to community businesses
~Development of socializaion skills
The Career Sites are available to students at every high school grade level and students earn school credit.
These are the businesses that the Work-Study Program from Hilliard Darby, Bradley and Davidson will go to for career sites. Students are transported by a school bus and a job coach provides on-site training and guidance. These are unpaid career exploration opportunities. Students are at the site for about an hour and go one half day per week for one semester. Sites change each semester. Students will earn a grade each 9 weeks and credit toward graduation. Career sites are an option for students who have not worked in paid, competitive employment and who want to learn basic employability skills.
The Transition/Work-Study Specialist will meet with students and decide who is the best fit for each career site based on interest, class schedule and career site needs. All parents will be notified and permission slips will be sent home before a student goes to a Career Site.
